The Editorial Board welcomes proposals for a theme issue presenting new research in the field of Low Countries history. Scholars working outside the Low Countries are particularly encouraged to submit a proposal or to participate as author. Proposals should include the following:

A description of the topic and its significance (approximately 500 words).
A list of 5 to 7 contributors, and a title and paragraph describing each contributor’s individual essay.
A brief c.v. of the guest editor(s), who do not belong to the editorial board.

Submissions should be sent to the managing editor of the journal, Anne-Marie Mreijen.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 1 January 2018. Final drafts of the manuscripts are due on 1 September 2018, publication is scheduled in 2019. The Editorial Board’s selection will be based on the quality and coherence of the proposal and the degree in which it succeeds in positioning the significance of Low Countries History within contemporary historiography at large. Previous theme issues have included ‘Beeldenstorm: Iconoclasm in the Sixteenth-Century Low Countries’ (issue 2016:1, guest editors Koenraad Jonckheere and Ruben Suykerbuyk), ‘Scholarly Personae: Repertoires and Performances of Academic Identity’ (issue 2016:4), ‘Blurring Boundaries: Towards a Medical History of the Twentieth Century’ (issue 2017:1), ‘The Rise of Consumer Society’ (issue 2017:3).
