International colloquium: Minorities in/at War (9 & 10 March 2017)

Les 9 et 10 mars prochains, le Musée Juif de Belgique organise en partenariat avec le CegeSoma, un colloque international intitulé « Minorities in/at War ». Il se tiendra à la Bibliothèque royale. Il y sera question des violences perpétrées envers les minorités, ainsi que de leur protection légale, durant la période de 1912 à 1923. Présentations d’historiens venus d’Europe, d’Amérique du Nord et du Proche-Orient, et discussions rythmeront ces deux journées d’étude. Une place de choix sera donnée aux résonances contemporaines de ces questions. Inscriptions et infos : georgia@mjb-jmb.org.

• Langue : le colloque se déroulera entièrement en anglais. Les questions en français ou en néerlandais seront acceptées si les compétences linguistiques des présidents de séances et des intervenants le permettent.

Internationaal colloquium – Minorities in/at War – 9 & 10 maart 2017

Op 9 en 10 maart organiseert het Joods Museum van België in samenwerking met het CegeSoma een internationaal colloquium getiteld “Minorities in/at War”. Het vindt plaats in de Koninklijke Bibliotheek. De rode draad doorheen het colloquium is enerzijds het geweld gepleegd tegen minderheden evenals anderzijds hun wettelijke bescherming gedurende de periode van 1912 tot 1923. Tijdens deze twee studiedagen worden presentaties van historici uit Europa, Noord-Amerika en het Midden-Oosten afgewisseld met discussiemomenten. • Taal: Het colloquium verloopt volledig in het Engels. Vragen in het Frans of in het Nederlands zullen worden aanvaard als de taalbeheersing van de moderators en de sprekers dit toelaat.

On 9 and 10 March 2017, the Jewish Museum of Belgium in collaboration with CegeSoma organizes an international colloquium at the Royal Library of Belgium: « Minorities in/at War ». ». The violence perpetrated against minorities is one key issue, while their legal protection, is another. The conference tackles the period from 1912 to 1923. Lectures by historians from Europe, North America and the Middle East will be alternated with discussions. Attention will also be given to contemporary issues related to these questions.
